Township Fire Department, Inc. – Station 2, Washington

The Washington fire station is located within the Town of Washington Municipal Building at 5750 Old Town Hall Road.  The new station built in 2002 is home to 25 firefighters and their equipment and includes 2 fire engines, 2 water tankers, a brush truck, and a rescue/hazardous materials response truck. 

The Washington fire station is a part of a larger organization, Township Fire Department, Inc.  Township Fire Department, Inc. (TFD, Inc.) includes fire stations from the towns of Seymour, Washington, Union, Pleasant Valley, and Brunswick.  TFD, Inc. operates these five stations with 21 trucks, two portable pumps, two boats, a four wheeler, six wheeler, and an Argo and approximately 125 active volunteers.   

The Washington fire station holds an annual Charcoal Chicken Feed to raise funds for purchasing tools and equipment.  This tradition has been honored from more than 40 years, and continues to be held in May of every year.  Recently, a Brat & Corn Feed has been held in the fall as well.

Burning Barrels

The Town is requiring permits for all burning barrels as of January 1, 2008.  The cost is $10.00 annually.  Permit applications can be obtained at the Town office or here under Forms & Permits.  The barrel is inspected by Township Fire Department, Town of Washington Station prior to issuance.  Failure to obtain a permit could result in fines up to $500.00.

BURNING PERMITS

Burning permits may be obtained by calling 715-834-6868 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Burning Hours:
     6:00 p.m. to Midnight - Monday through Friday
     8:00 a.m. to Midnight - Saturdays
     NO BURNING ON SUNDAYS, HOLDIAY OR DURING CLOSED BURNING PERIODS.
     Wind speed and humidity will determine if permits will be issued.

Open Burning:
     Only dry, combustible materials can be burned - such as trees, brush, untreated &  
     unpainted lumber, yard waste and clean paper products.
     SOMEONE MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT THE FIRE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY 
     OUT.

Closed Burning:
     Township Fire Dept., Inc. may prohibit all burning during prolonged dry periods or when 
     other conditions make burning hazardous.  Watch for these announcements.

Violations:
     Are punishable by a fine of up to $500.00 + court costs, up to 90 days imprisonment, or
     both, and assessment of actual costs for suppressing unauthorized fires.
